Unforgettable Happens Here…Togetherness Happens Here…Family Happens Here…Let The Memories Begin!
Disney’s marketing campaign tag lines. They really hit home. Think back to your last Disney World vacation if you have traveled before. What do you remember? Do you remember the fact that it poured rain while you were walking through Epcot or that the kids splashed through the puddles and you had to wring out your socks when you got home? Do you remember waiting in the FastPass line to meet Anna & Elsa for almost 20 minutes in the stuffy little hallway OR the look on your daughter’s face when she saw her favorite queen and princess in person? It’s the moments and the magic that you remember! Take yourself back to the first time you saw Cinderella’s Castle or the laughable experience of riding it’s a small world over and over with your young child who looks at you with a sweet smile and says “dollies again mommy?”
THIS is why the memories are the most important part of your Disney World vacation and it’s the best souvenirs. Whether you like photos of your experience, just looking at your MagicBand and thinking back on the experience, or purchasing something to remember your trip by, it will all tie back to a specific moment in time. For us, it can be a silly moment at home where my daughter steals all of the crackers on the tray as we prep for a dinner party. My mind immediately jumps to our experience at Garden Grill with Mickey, Pluto, Chip, and Dale when our wonderful server put down the platter of food and Elie (my daughter) stood up on her seat and grabbed all 4 Mickey waffles on the tray and put them on her plate and we were not allowed to touch them.
My family obviously travels with me fairly often and each vacation has a standout moment and something that makes me a little misty-eyed as I think about them. There’s the first trip with my husband that almost didn’t happen because of a last minute life emergency so we enjoyed every single second of it together, the first trip with my daughter in which she was just in awe and excited about seeing her “friends” for the first time. She loved it so much I convinced my husband that it was worthwhile to travel again the following spring. That was the “prom date’ vacation in which Ellie would turn around and back up into each of her favorite characters to make for the perfect little photo. And this most recent trip was more about the rides than the characters (which completely shocked both of us). While she still loves her “friends”, it was not as high on her priority list than riding DINOSAURS again (Tricea-Tops Spin), Dollies (Small World), Ghosts (Haunted Mansion), and Pirates – GO DOWN THE SLIDE MOMMY!!!
The best moments (like the one I just mentioned) are the unplanned ones as well. I’m a Disney vacation PLANNER but I can’t plan for magic and pixie dust. I love to spread it around when I can’t whether it’s a room request for a guest to make their stay more comfortable or giving someone my preferred seating ticket to Fantasmic! because we know won’t make because of toddler exhaustion. YOU are the magic makers and you are the memory makers! Kindness, a positive attitude and a memory vault are all you truly need for your vacation experience. You never know when a little magic will surprise you and you may not know that you ran into a truly unique experience until you return home and talk to friends or family about them. I’ve had guests come back and tell me they got to ride on the carousel with Anastasia, Drizella, and Lady Tremaine or the Teacups with Alice. That’s definitely not an everyday occurrence.
Don’t let my worst or even photos speak, let this really powerful video take in all of those ‘mommy’ emotions come out!
So plan to make memories. Plan for love, family and enjoyment, but most of all, plan for the unplanned moments and let them happen!
